I was getting my daily fix of early morning caffeine when I heard bits and pieces of a song that had a very hummable tune. Any song this good must be common knowledge, but being a music newbie this was the first time I was hearing this song. So I asked Google, and it gave me a name – ‘Happy Together by The Turtles’. I took the coffee, got back to my desk, put on the headphones, and played this song; in a loop. Its been ~14 hours since I first heard this song and I am still playing it as I am writing this post.
Here is the song… hope you like it too :).
Looking for this song, I found the whole album. It’s pretty good, and In case you’d like to listen to it, here you go…
Saturday afternoon, I was casually browsing through Rotten Tomatoes, and this was one of the three movies rated fresh. While I did not know the genre of the movie, I was surprised to see it had Henry Cavill in it. Now I like this guy; not after watching Immortals, but since Man of Steel. And surprised because I did not think he could act in other movies, while he was playing Superman. So I played the trailer, and it seemed fun. Kiran was there when I was playing it, and he thought it was funny too. Later in the day we decided to go for the movie, and just so that we have a fallback option we went to Century 16. If you find a movie boring, you can happily go to sleep here as all the seats have recliners. Now that was our fallback.
We are comfortably seated, and the start credits begin to roll when I see Guy Ritchie’s name below ‘Directed by’. I was pleasantly surprised. Snatch is one of my all time favorites, and I also think Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and RocknRolla are kick ass movies. If you haven’t already seen them, you should. This got me excited, and by the time the end credits rolled I wasn’t disappointed. In a sentence, this is a comedy spy movie from the 1960’s where the protagonists are trying to stop crazy people from getting their hands on nuclear warfare. Cliched story, but we laughed a lot, the plot wasn’t too hard to follow, and the acting was top notch. Henry Cavill fit the role of Man of Cool/Solo to a T. Shout out to Illya played by one half of the Winklevoss twins/Armie Hammer, and Gaby played by Alicia Vikander. The best part about this cast is they had chemistry. <mild-spolier-alert>The ending hints at this team having a lot more adventures in the future, so fingers crossed.</mild-spolier-alert>
Interestingly there is a TV series from 1960s with the same name.
Coming out of the movie, I couldn’t help but think Henry Cavill would be a great James Bond. Any idea when would Daniel Craig’s contract as Bond end?
Henry Cavill as Bond > Daniel Craig as Bond
